Sometimes it takes soaring through the clouds to be reminded of the majestic creation of God almighty. The wonder of the clouds often present a peaceful clarity as we bolt by in airplanes. There's something about being in an airplane, powerless, vulnerable, in the very will of God's hand in the sky. I truly believe that when we become powerless, God's glory has the chance to step in and illuminate in our lives.
How can we become powerless in a society that tells us, "This life is ours for the taking"? The smoke from the deceitful burning fire of our pride must clear. Pride screams "My life, my way!" Hands locked on the steering wheel of your life, yet suffering through the illusion of your confidence towards your ultimate destination. Do you know where you're going? Do you know where you're growing? A shift in perspective goes a long way. What does it take for the lens of our perspective to change? How can we see the glory of God that is surrounding us and within us? How can we wake up in the morning with the assurance that God's glory reigns supreme over all?
I've found that humility and gratitude have completely healed and changed my life. Focusing my perspective on how incredibly blessed I am and letting go of the thoughts that focus on what it is I lack, have been most beneficial. Have you ever been in a place in life where you believed everything and everyone was against you? Coming after you? My question to you, and a question I had to ask myself was, "What role am I playing in all of this?" One cannot become humble, without the acknowledgement of pride. A humble spirit is aware that there are some thought processes that must change. You may not have everything, but trust me, you have everything. In this very moment, someone is dying. People are starving. I turn on the news expecting to see another black man gunned down by police. Bombings and attacks all over. Isis has become a household name. We are no strangers to the sufferings of this world. Yet, we wake up and start our day, choosing to focus on what we lack and who's against us? Petty Betty. Petty for sure.
My perspective changed when I became truly aware and centered in the suffering of this world, in tandem with the understanding of the amazing blessings I receive on a daily basis. These amazing blessings aren't what you might think. They aren't these elaborate, ground breaking things. Simply waking up and inhaling. This is a great place to start your acknowledgement of gratitude. What a gift waking up is. Start there. Open your eyes and let your heart continue to shift your perspective. My goodness simply open your eyes.
Soon you'll find your perspective changing and your heart becoming aware that God is indeed worthy of all of your praise and adoration. If you're reading this, your life still has value, and God's glory, through your predestined purpose, has yet to be revealed. You have an assignment in this life that requires a humbling. I believe that God uses us as vessels for his glory, once our perspectives change. The people we meet, the places we go, the experiences we share. Chance you say? Far from the truth. Shift your perspective and energy on becoming whole, becoming humble and servant-hearted, that you might be used for God's glory to bless someone else. Say hello to someone in passing. Look up at your relatives and enjoy their energy, their spirit. Be present. Start a gratitude journal. Go on a walk alone, no headphones, no music. Find your humility, shift your perspective. Til next month!
